Description
Abstract
All highways and major roads of Prince George's County, Maryland

Purpose
Classification of all highways and major roads with names and/or highway sheilds (via labeling). Data was captured from the latest aerial imagery available. All ramps were classfied to the lowest connecting road type. For example when an Interstate and a State of Maryland Highway intersect the ramps are coded as State of Maryland Highways. All ramps have a ROAD_NAME of RAMP so they can be easily identified. All roads that hold dual route numbers or route types are attibuted in the ROAD_TYPE2 and ROAD_SYMBOL2 fields. Examples of this include Interstate 95 and Interstate 495 (the Capital Beltway) and along MD 5 and US 301 when the road segments are shared entering Charles County. The only exception to this rule follows the Federal and State of Maryland decison that MD 50 outside the Beltway is not attributed as Interstate 595.
